UPPSC RO ARO Mains Syllabus 2025 – Exam Pattern & Details

Short Information: The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) has released the syllabus for the RO/ARO Mains Examination 2025 for 411 posts. The Mains syllabus covers General Studies, General Hindi and Drafting, and Hindi Essay. The Mains online application process is open from 17 October to 07 November 2025, with the Mains exam expected in December 2025/January 2026. Syllabus Details

The UPPSC RO/ARO Mains 2025 exam consists of three descriptive papers with a total of 400 marks and no negative marking. The duration is 3 hours per paper.

Paper 2: General Hindi & Drafting (Part 1: Conventional, Part 2: Objective) 160 3 Hours Part 1: Heading of Given Passage, Precis & Explanation of Underlined Parts, Precis in Tabular Form of Any Given Govt. Letter, Correspondence, Official/ Demi Official Letter, Office Memo, Circular, Communique, Press Note; Knowledge of Official Terminology, Drafting of Report Article, Precis Writing. Part 2: Antonym, Synonyms & One Word Substitution, Idioms & Phrases, Correction of Sentences
Paper 3: Hindi Essay 120 3 Hours Topics related to current affairs, socio-economic problems, political scenario, science & technology, education, culture, agriculture, industry, trade, regional, national & international importance; Essay Writing in Hindi (3 essays of 600 words each)

How to Prepare

Step 1 Download the official syllabus PDF from uppsc.up.nic.in and analyze weightage (General Studies 120 marks, Hindi & Drafting 160 marks, Essay 120 marks).
Step 2 Create a study plan: 2 hours daily for General Studies (focus on UP-specific topics), 2 hours for Hindi & Drafting (practice precis/letters), 1 hour for Essay writing.
Step 3 Use recommended books: Lucent GK (General Studies), Arihant Hindi (Hindi & Drafting), Spectrum Modern History, NCERT for Polity/Economy, UP GK by Pariksha Vani.
Step 4 Practice previous year papers and mock tests for time management and answer writing skills.
Step 5 Stay updated with current affairs via newspapers and apps, especially UP-related news for General Studies.
Step 6 For Hindi Essay, practice writing on diverse topics; focus on grammar, structure, and vocabulary for Drafting.
